Aim of project:

To increase understanding and prevent existence of local shape defects on strip steel

Materials:

Thin, Carbon steel

Suggested scope:

Laboratory heat treatment cycle evaluations
(stress relieving)

  • Comparison of rolled shape and local shape distortion after hardening
  • Residual stresses before and after hardening
  • Induction heating of coils, productivity and quality increase

  • Literature search & Introduction
              4 weeks
  • Laboratory evaluation of stress relieving of strip steel
              4 weeks
  • Industrial trials rolled shape / hardened shape
              4 weeks
  • Evaluation of new possible production routes
              2 weeks
  • Extra time for trials, evaluation etc.
              2 weeks
  • Report writing
              4 weeks

Suggested goals:

  • To find good comparison method between rolled shape and final shape
  • To evaluate possible solutions to avoid local shape defects.
  • To suggest future possible production parameters/methods
